When the original Motorola Droid Razr Maxx was unveiled a couple of years back, the handset instantly became the talk of the smartphone scene because the handset came with a 3300 mAh power pack in its chassis. At that time, its manufacturer boasted that the handset came with a battery life unlike what we’ve seen in the past. There was a lot of chest-beating on the part of Motorola about the supposed battery life of the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx so there was only one way of knowing if the OEM was just blowing up smoke.
The Motorola Droid Razr Maxx was then put through a series of real world tests to ascertain whether its battery life is indeed what Motorola claims it t be. And you know what, Motorola wasn’t joking whne it said the battery life of the handset blows other smartphones out of the water. Real world tests show that the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx was capable of a 21-hour talk time on a single charge. It even came up with video play back and web browsing times longer than any other smartphone can come up with. In short, Motorola and Verizon had a hit in their hands in the form of the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx.
But that is not the only good thing happening to the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx at the moment. During its time, the specs sheet of the handset was topnotch given that it was Motorola’s flagship device back then. Sad to say, after a couple of years in the shelves, the handset was reduced to an aging device. But the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx can get a new lease on life, thanks to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. And the best part, the update and be expected to land on the handset this Q1 of 2013.
As it stands, Motorola has already confirmed that the original Motorola Droid Razr Maxx will also get a taste of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. No specific time frame was mentioned though but the OEM has already announced that the Jelly Bean refresh will land on the handset by Q1 of this year. In short, it could be any day now until the end of March. Hopefully it is the former than the latter though.
As for the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx, the handset came with an impressive resume with it was launched. It has a Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 chipset controlling its operation under the hood while a dual-core 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor work in conjunction with a full gigabyte of RAM to deliver the computing power required by the handset. The storage space onboard the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx comes up to a very generous 32GB but this can still be expanded using the handset’s microSD card slot. Display-wise, the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx sports a 4.3-inch SuperAMOLED Advanced panel with a 540 x 960 resolution while its camera department features a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP snapper.
