Google announced Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as the latest version of its mobile operating system a little over a month ago at Google I/O and as expected, smartphone and tablet manufacturers have one by one come out in the open to release details about their plans in getting the devices in their respective stables upgraded to Jelly Bean. ASUS drew first blood in the tablet arena by announcing that it will definitely rollout the update to three of its Transformer tablets while smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung and HTC have also announced their plans.
ASUS though is one manufacturer that can be expected to be very timely in the release of software updates to its line of tablets. In fact, less than a month after the manufacturer announced that three of its tablets will get the Android 4.1 refresh, ASUS follows through with its promise because it has started the rollout of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300.
Now, that is what we call very timely!
As of the moment, the Jelly Bean update for the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 is now being rolled out in US shores so if you happen to rock one of these babies, you might want to check your tablet every once in a while for the notification that will let you know about the update’s availability on your device. If the notification on the other hand is nowhere to be found, you still have the option to manually check for the update by heading over to Settings > System Firmware Update > Check Update for that matter.
The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update once applied to your tablet will make your ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 incompatible with Flash. Wi-Fi Direct will also get hit but early adopters all gave positive feedback about the update. Aside from cranking up the operating system of the tablet to Jelly Bean, the update will also bring a power-saving feature, global file search and enhancements to the pre-installed applications on the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300.
As for the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300, ASUS made the existence of the tablet official when it was announced back in February. The tablet however took its time before becoming available in the shelves in April. The device has measurements of 263 x 180.8 x 9.9 mm and it tips the scales at 635 grams.
Under the hood, the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 has quad-core capabilities thanks largely to its NVIDIA Tegra 3 T30L chipset which gives it a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz. The system memory in its internals comes up to a full gigabyte and the tablet was released in a 16GB and a 32GB version in terms of storage space. A user has the option though to have this further expanded using its microSD card slot. Display-wise, the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 comes with a 10.1-inch IPS LCD panel that has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels while its camera department features an 8MP shooter in its back panel while a 1.2MP video chat camera is found in its front bezel.

I’ve noticed that since the jelly bean upgrade, my microsd slot does not work.
