The Samsung Galaxy S III is without a doubt still one of the hottest handsets available in the market today. This popularity of the Samsung flagship device dates back to prior its announcement wherein a lot of the smartphone-buying population are already eagerly awaiting the release of the handset. The result? An overwhelming demand for the handset, Samsung unable to keep up with production and culminating to a lot of delays on the launch of the handset. In fact, in just a couple of days of its announcement, preorders for the handset have already reached 9 million. And once it finally launched, it only took the Samsung Galaxy S III  a hundred days to rack up sales of 20 million units.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is on sale now starting at 69.99.

That’s ancient history now – and as of the moment, the Samsung Galaxy S III has exceeded all the expectations thrown at it and earned the nods of approval of our smartphone-crazed brethren. However, if there was one thing that could make the handset a whole lot better than it already is, it would have to be the upgrade that will give it a taste of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Remember, the handset launched with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich but as soon as Google unveiled Jelly Bean, Samsung immediately confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S III will be the first Samsung device to be given the Android 4.1 refresh.

And now, it is finally happening…

Some will be excited with the news, some will get disappointed but that’s just the way the whole update process works. So, consider those who tote a Samsung Galaxy S III in Poland very lucky because that is where the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is being rolled out to as we speak. Though that may be the case, we expect the update to get rolled out to other regions as well in just a matter of time.

The Jelly Bean update which will bring Google Now, Project Butter and other enhancements to the performance of the Samsung Galaxy S III 4G LTE such as the redesigned notification shade and new TouchWIZ features is now being rolled out via OTA and Samsung Kies. Either you wait for that notification of hook up your handset to your computer and fire up your Samsung Kies software, that’s entirely up to you – it will still give your handset that much awaited Jelly Bean dessert.

As for the Samsung Galaxy S III, the handset relies on its QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset to power its operation while the computing power it requires is generated by the handset’s dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and 2GB of RAM. The handset is available in 16GB and 32GB in terms of storage capacity with the option to have this expanded using the device’s microSD card slot. Display-wise, the Samsung Galaxy S III sports a massive 4.8-inch SuperAMOLED HD panel with a 1280 x 720 resolution while its camera department features a rear 8MP shooter and a front-facing 1.9MP video call camera.
