Whenever Google releases a new version of its Android mobile operating system, manufacturers who make use of that said version are in turn required to release the source code of the version they will use for their respective smartphones. And in this regard, Samsung is one OEM that can be relied on to be very timely in the manner it releases these said source codes. In fact, there are cases in the past that the source code is already available to be taken advantage of while the device in question is still waiting for its chance to make its debut in the shelves.

This seems to be the case of the Samsung Galaxy Note II version to be released by AT&T in US shores. As it stands, the second generation Samsung phablet won’t be making its debut in the shelves of the wireless provider in a couple more days but the Korean electronics giant has already made the Jelly Bean source code of the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II available in its support site. This means that power users and hackers who want to dig deep and see what the Jelly Bean OS of the Samsung Galaxy Note II is made of can now readily do so.

Though this source code might sound alien to a regular smartphone user because he wouldn’t find much use for the code, the same power users, hackers and hardworking fellows of the developer communities will definitely have a field day with the availability of the Jelly Bean source code of the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II. What this simply means is that these fellows can now take the source code apart and start cooking better and faster custom firmware and kernels for the AT&T version of the phablet.

In short, in just a couple of days, we can already expect custom firmware that brings about tons of personalization and customization options on the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II to drop like manna from the heavens. This simply means that those who will immediately get their hands on the AT&T version of the Samsung phablet won’t have to wait long for this custom firmware for the device to become available.

As for the Samsung Galaxy Note II, this is the successor to the highly successful original Samsung Galaxy Note released late last year. With its impressive components and capabilities, the Samsung Galaxy Note II can act as a potent one-two punch together with the Samsung Galaxy S III in the Korean electronics giant’s bid for smartphone market supremacy. The phablet already runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and this is powered by an Exynos 4412 Quad chipset with a quad-core 1.6 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor and a staggering 2GB of RAM under the hood. The device is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB in terms of storage space with the option to have this expanded using the Samsung Galaxy Note II’s microSD card slot. The standout feature of the device is still its massive 5.5-inch SuperAMOLED HD panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its camera department features a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.9MP snapper.
