When Google announced Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the latest iteration of its mobile operating system, a couple of months back, ASUS was one of the manufacturers who first took the stage to give us details as to what its plans are in updating its line of devices to Jelly Bean. This is not surprising at all give the fact that ASUS is one manufacturer that can be relied on to be very timely in the release of updates for its devices. During the announcement, the manufacturer confirmed that several of its Transformer tablets will get cranked up to the latest Android version although at that time, there was no mention of a specific timeframe as to when the Android 4.1 refresh will actually get rolled out.
A couple of days back, the manufacturer announced that Jelly Bean is about to hit the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 very soon. And knowing ASUS, by very soon, it meant that the Jelly Bean update is just around the corner. Yesterday, ASUS confirmed that it will be rolling out the update to the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 on September 28 but it looks like users of the tablet will have to wait a little longer for the update to land.
Gary Key, a representative for ASUS, confirmed via XDA that the Jelly Bean update for the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 will indeed get delayed. The representative said that several applications such as FaceBook that got recently updated needed a last minute update in the keyboard firmware of the tablet for it to operate correctly. Mr Key also confirmed that the 10.4.4.16 Release that should give the tablet a taste of Jelly Bean will be released early next week so users of the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 won’t have to wait that long. And in the first place, I’m sure these users of the tablet will choose to wait for a couple more days for ASUS to what needs to be done than have to deal with a buggy update right now.
As for the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700, the tablet reached official status when it was announced back in February but it wasn’t until July when it finally made its debut in the shelves. It has dimensions of 263 x 180.8 x 8.5 mm and it tips the scales at 598 grams. Under the hood, the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 packs impressive components. Its circuitry is built around its NVIDIA Tegra 3 T33 chipset which brings into play a quad-core 1.6 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor and a full gigabyte of RAM. The tablet is available in 32GB and 64GB in terms of storage capacity with the option to have its internal memory expanded via its microSD card slot. Its display on the other hand is a 10.1-inch Super IPS+ LCD panel with a 1920 x 1200 resolution while its camera department includes a rear 8MP shooter and a front 2MP snapper.
