Nokia is looking to expand in the mobile market and even though most of the smartphones made by the company are running on Windows Phone software, it was no surprise that Nokia was going to release an Android powered sometime this year. Being the first Android powered smartphone from the company is going to gain plenty of attention in the mobile market, but according to the leaked specs that popped up this week, the Nokia X is going to leave a lot to desire. One of the rumors is that the device will not even be able to access the Google Play Store.
The might not be a big deal to those that would like to try the smartphone out, but the Nokia Store is nothing compared to the Google Play Store in terms of apps the company has available for its operating system. Another rumor was that the Nokia X was going to be running a forked version of Android, much like how Amazon does with its Kindle line of tablets. You can tell that the operating system is Android, however, the user interface is changed in such a way that is unrecognizable to those that are familiar with stock Android.
The smartphone is certainly going to be an entry-level option that is going to be affordable at the same time. Even though the device is going to run Android 4.4 KitKat software out of the box, it will be blended with Windows Phone software in a very new way. Features includes a small, 4-inch touch screen display with below average 480×800 resolution. The phone is expected to be powered by a dual-core processor that is clocked at 1Ghz and only 512MB of RAM. These features could be found on smartphones that were released in 2010, just as a comparison.
It has been rumored that the Nokia X is only coming with 4GB of internal storage, but it will have a micrSD card slot that can be used to expand the storage of the device up to 32GB more if needed. The back side has a 5MP camera that will take decent pictures that you can share right from the camera software. The battery is only 1500mAh in size, but should provide about 5-6 hours of talk time. The Nokia X will launch in 6 different colors, plus a version that has a dual-SIM card slot.
