We mentioned here recently that the Samsung Galaxy S III is rumored to receive a bump up to the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system, totally bypassing version 4.2.2. In discussing that possibility, we referred to the fact that strong rumors persisted about compatibility issues between the Samsung TouchWiz user interface and Jelly Bean 4.2.2. Whether or not that is the case, leaked information has hit the World Wide Web today, July 22, supposedly from the Samsung research and development department in India.

If this information proves to be correct, and if Google announces the arrival of the Android 4.3 operating system version on July 24 as they have alluded to, the possibility of the popular Samsung Galaxy S III receiving the newest Android OS and skipping 4.2 definitely strengthens. Those unsubstantiated Galaxy S III rumors gathered some credence today when leaked screenshots showed an image which is purportedly a Galaxy S III 4G Android smartphone running a Jelly Bean 4.3.0 beta build.
Again, this is all speculation at this point, and the only thing we know for certain is that the Galaxy S III is one of the best-selling smartphones of all time, and Google is making some type of operating system announcement on the 24th. The two may or may not be related, but the evidence of the Galaxy S III screenshot running Jelly Bean 4.3, a delay in delivering the Android 4.2.2 OS to both the S III and Galaxy Note II, and rumored TouchWiz UI compatibility problems on those two handsets with 4.2.2 seem pretty substantial harbingers of some kind of major OS change for the Galaxy S III handset.
It is also possible that Google could announce Galaxy 4.3 on the Galaxy S III and the upcoming Key Lime Pie OS to red-carpet on the flagship Galaxy S4 phone. We do know that Android 4.3 delivers some of the cutting-edge features the Galaxy S4 debuted, and seeing those on the Galaxy S III would be nice. The S3 recently passed 50 million global sales, and as it celebrated its one-year anniversary on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network with a one penny on contract price tag, the phone closes in on the 60 million worldwide sales mark.
The Galaxy S3 offers a slim and light form factor, large high-resolution display and speedy dual core processor in a package which has received the Best 2012 Smartphone of the Year award from multiple industry analysts and expos. The True HD display measures 4.80 inches, and resolution runs 720 by 1,280 pixels. The phone delivers up to 15.0 hours of single charge talk time, 2.0 GB of RAM system memory and a speedy 1.5 GHz dual core processor. A microSD slot is on board for storage expansion.
