If you have the LG G2, you might know that you are holding one of the more powerful smartphones on the market today. With that being said, when the LG G2 launched, it was not running the latest and greatest software from Google. The LG G2 was launched back in August of last year and that was a little bit before Google announced and released the Android 4.4 KitKat software to Nexus branded devices. Now that the software is making its way around to other devices, it looks like the LG G2 might be one coming sooner than later.
According to reports, the Android 4.4 KitKat update will be sent out to those that have the smartphone “before the end of Q1”. For the most part, that means that the company has until the end of March to make good on its word, which is nothing new in the mobile world when it comes to software updates. Since the first of this year, there has been little information released about the new update, other than Korea getting the first look at it recently. Another report surfaced today indicating that the update is certainly going to hit the United States by March.
Branches of LG in other regions of the world are also reporting little about what is coming in fewer than 60 days. LG is not one of the quickest companies when it comes to getting software updates out to mobile carriers from the time it starts until all the users of one handset have seen it, so this is no surprise to anyone. LG reps have been trying to keep up with questions and remarks via social media stating to one question “We have said it several times, by the end of March 2014, have a nice day”.
AT&T and Verizon Wireless are two companies that could be forcing users to wait until the third quarter before releasing the software and that is something that has been reported on more than one occasion. The LG G2 comes with a 5.2-inch IPS LCD touch screen display and a 1080p HD resolution, plus scratch resistant glass to protect it. The camera is a 13MP sensor with LED flash and F2.4 lens for taking better photos in low light situations. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 800 from Qualcomm that is clocked at 2.2GHz and is the fastest on the market.
