The LG Optimus G 4G Android smartphone has been selling crisply, and has been accepted widely. And already we have been told the LG Optimus G Pro will hit the smartphone marketplace sometime soon. No release date has been confirmed up till now, with the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2013 in late February officially confirmed as the launch date and red carpet debut of the handset. What is interesting is that several leaked photos show the Japanese LG Optimus G Pro delivering a Full HD 5.0 inch display and powered with a quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU clocked at 1.7 GHz.
Okay, that seems straightforward enough. However, there are conflicting photos flying around the World Wide Web which show a 5.5 inch display on the international model. Both handsets deliver an extremely high-end package of hardware and software, but the display disparity has not been confirmed nor denied by LG. The Mobile World Congress (MWC) mobile consumer electronics expo is held annually at the end of February in Barcelona, Spain, and is home to several significant smartphone launches every year.
A recent Facebook teaser revealed that the handset is nearly ready for release in South Korea, with the exact dates and specifications about the international model releasing in the United States not confirmed at this point. As mentioned above, several pictures have been leaked listing the Japanese LG Optimus G Pro specs, which include an extended life 3,000 mA battery and Android’s 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system delivered out-of-the-box. The handset is also slated to deliver 2.0 GB of RAM memory, a generous serving of 32 GB worth of internal data storage, and a whopping 13.0 megapixel camera sensor.
But recent blurry hands-on pictures of a similar LG Optimus G Pro also hit the web last week. Purported to be the international version, that particular handset showed a 5.5 inch display with Full HD 1,080P resolution and also delivering 2.0 GB of RAM memory. The rest of the specs mentioned above are the same on this particular model, but the battery is slightly bigger at 3,140 mA.
Obviously 2 different variants of the LG Optimus G Pro will be sold for different markets, and at this early date no retail price or official launch date has made its way to the smartphone Blogosphere. This is not uncommon, and happened recently with the HTC Droid DNA in the United States and its twin counterpart, the HTC J Butterfly in Japan. As soon as we get official word on pricing, technical specs and availability we will pass it along, and with MWC 2013 right around the corner, we should not have long to wait.
