Let’s take a look at the report from JD Power and associates and see how it ranked Verizon Wireless in network reliability shall we?  The network is still winning awards and getting great marks for customer service and satisfaction, not to mention the top spot in JD Power’s “US 2011 Wireless Network Quality Performance Study – Volume 2”.  When compared to the other networks in the study Verizon was on the top when it came to least amount of customer complaints regarding dropped calls, connection issues and delayed text messages.  Verizon Wireless got a score of 10; lower score reflecting fewer issues and higher call quality, and the company that came in second had a score of 14.

Verizon Wireless actually collected the award in more than one region as well.  The Northeast, Mid Atlantic, Southeast, Southwest and Western regions all had the company on top with the best score.  The only region the company did not dominate was the North Central and that was led by US Cellular, for a 12th time in a row.  US Cellular customers had fewer complaints about lost calls, audio problems and voice mail issues.

Verizon Wireless getting the top spot is one thing, but that means that other companies are not doing so well when it comes to customer satisfaction.  AT&T was closer to the bottom than they wanted to be in many regions, but in the Southwest and Mid Atlantic regions there were second behind Verizon.  Sprint Nextel was the number two carrier in the Northeast, but that was the only region where its satisfaction rating was high.  T-Mobile was closer to the end of the list in most regions as well, but placed 2nd behind Verizon in the Southeast and West regions.

This is a report that JD Power puts out as a way of letting consumers know exactly where the mobile carrier companies stand.  The information used includes dropped calls, calls not connected, late voice mails, lost calls, audio issues, text messaging issues and Web connection issues that customers call to complain about.  Another thing that came from the report was that smartphone users run into more problems than consumers that have a regular cell phone, or basically the more complex the phone the more issues you could possibly run into.  In all the markets that were tested, the fewest complaints came from Salt Lake City and the most were from Sacramento.
