The Moto X has dominated the news cycle since the day that it hit the market and at first it was all about getting a smartphone that you could customize in more ways than just replacing the back cover with one of a different color. The Moto Maker has given the typical smartphone user the chance to create a smartphone case with options that will make it stand out from the crowd and all for a very affordable price. The Moto X has also made the news this week because there are reports that some users have been able to download the Android 4.4.2 KitKat software in recent days.
The Android KitKat software was officially released back in October of last year by Google and since then there have been a bunch of smartphones in line to get the upgrade. Motorola beat everyone to the punch and released the initial version on the Moto X within days of the Google announcement. Even those that had the Moto X on the Verizon Wireless network had the new software within the first month which is something new for subscribers on the largest network in the country.
The KitKat software has been bumped up to version number 4.4.2 and all of the Nexus branded devices and the Moto G have been upgraded. Now it is time to see the newest software on the Moto X. Google initially found critical bugs in the new software and that included some security issues that have since been all patched up. With all of that going on, there are now reports that some on the Verizon Wireless network are getting the Android 4.4.2 software update notification on their Moto X. Verizon is not typically the first in line when it comes to updates as many can attest to.
Since the Moto X was released, that has changed and what was reported last week was the Motorola has currently in the middle of soak testing the new software, which is one of the last steps before the company releases it to the public. Without an official announcement from Motorola or Verizon Wireless at this time, it is surprising to see that some users have already seen the update come on their device. Some teaser announcements have been made via Google+ but that is all that has been noticed.
