Verizon Wireless might have been the first mobile carrier in the United States to get the Android 4.4 KitKat update to those that have the Moto X, but it did not take long for T-Mobile to catch up. Another mobile carrier has announced the update for the popular smartphone and it should be to all devices on the network by the end of this week. AT&T is the carrier and it announced that the Android 4.4 KitKat update was coming for the device last week and now it is ready to deliver.
You can purchase the Motorola Moto X for AT&T at a discounted price tag now starting at $49.99.
The update is one that is highly anticipated, just like most of the other major Android updates, but because it is showing up on the Moto X devices across three mobile carriers, those that have Nexus branded devices without the new software are getting frustrated. The Nexus branded devices should be the first on the list to get updates and even though the Nexus 5 came with the software pre-installed, the older Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and the Nexus 10, should have been next in line. While some consumers have been talking about getting the notification for their Nexus device, most of them with devices from last year are not seeing it happen.
Typically, a major software update is sent out in phases, with just a small number getting the update up front. If that goes without any issues, the company releases the update to more users with hopes that everything will go normal. AT&T completed the soak test last week and now it is time to send the update out over-the-air. The update will come with a few Motorola specific updates and enhancements, but for the most part you are going to see the most updates to the Android software on the Moto X.
According to AT&T’s change log, the Android 4.4 KitKat software will bring an improved user interface, including better security, full screen mode and navigation bars. The phone dialer app is also going to be updated and will have the ability to look up contacts. Touch to Focus has been enhanced for the camera, as well as the Gallery app which is where you pictures show up after they are taken. New filter effects, advanced cropping and better control over color, exposure and contrast were also added. If you did not already get the notification for the Android 4.4 KitKat update, keep an eye out for it. The Moto X for AT&T can be purchased at a reduced price tag now starting at $49.99.
