Over the past few years, thin has definitely become “in” where smartphones are concerned. No one wants a fat, clunky handset, as long as the thin form factor of a mobile phone is also home to a powerful processing package and excellent features. That is definitely the case with the Motorola Droid Ultra, one of the skinniest smartphones ever created. And incredibly, even though the phone delivers a large 5.0 inch screen, DuPont Kevlar fiber back plate and extended life 2,130 mA battery, the Droid Ultra measures just 0.28 inches (7.18 mm) in thickness, and weighs only 4.83 ounces (132 g).
The Motorola DROID ULTRA is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $0.01 – $599.99.
Motorola recently reiterated its promise of Android 4.4 KitKat for the Droid Ultra by January of next year. The tapered design actually gets thinner toward the bottom of the handset, and the steep curves and straight edges of the phone make it feel comfortable in your hand. Arriving alongside the Motorola Droid Maxx and Droid Mini when it was unveiled at a special press event in New York earlier this year, the Droid Ultra 4G is home to the new Motorola X8 Mobile Computing System, a True HD 720P display, 2.0 GB of RAM system memory, and a 10.0 megapixel rear camera with a uniquely accessed Quick Capture mode.
Simply shake the Droid Ultra twice and the camera is ready. ClearPixel technology built into that 10.0 megapixel sensor absorbs more light than typical smartphone cameras, and video is recorded in 1,080P HD resolution. Motorola has included a front facing chat cam for video call support, and the Droid Ultra 4G was recently spotted at the Amazon Wireless store online starting with a $19 on contract retail price tag during that company’s annual holiday sale.
Motorola has included stand-alone cores for both contextual and language processing, as well as a quad core graphics processor and a dual core 1.7 GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU to power the Droid Ultra 4G. This unique custom-made chip package results in battery conservation, and also a quicker user interface. Probably the hallmark of the language processor is the delivery of a virtual voice-activated personal assistant through Motorola’s new Touchless Control mode. Simply say, “Okay, Google Now,” and your Droid Ultra is ready for your voice commands, even waking up to the sound of your voice when in standby mode.
Up front the phone boasts a large 5.0 inch True HD display, and after a full battery charge, the phone delivers 28.0 hours of all-around usage. Standby time runs approximately 2 weeks, the Droid Ultra offers 2.0 GB of RAM memory, and comes with 16 GB of data storage preloaded. Aside from Wi-Fi 802.11 multiple channel access, the Motorola Droid Ultra offers wireless connectivity options through NFC and Bluetooth 4.0. The Droid Ultra can also provide Wi-Fi hotspot access to multiple wireless devices.
The Motorola DROID ULTRA can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $0.01 – $599.99.
