droidmaxxCall it Android 4.4 Part 2, or KitKat revisited, but it appears that the Motorola Droid MAXX has begun to receive the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system update … again. Back in mid December Motorola was pushing hard to have the update installed on Droid MAXX, Droid Mini and Droid Ultra smartphones, but device incompatibility reared its ugly head. However, some Motorola Droid MAXX owners have recently been chiming in on the Internet that they have received the identical Android 4.4 update number (build 19.5.3) on their handsets.

This would mean of course that Motorola Mobility has worked out all the bugs that kept the release from following through late last year. If you want to check to see if your Droid MAXX smartphone is ready for the KitKat download, just head over to Settings > About phone > Software update and see if the above mentioned build is ready for download. Before downloading the software, ensure that your phone has a full battery charge.

Color emojis are supported in the new software update, and the new Google Hangouts application delivers all of your SMS and MMS messages with your video calls and other conversations in one place. And although the Motorola Droid MAXX is the industry leader in delivering run time from a full battery charge, the smarter power usage delivered with Android 4.4.2 will probably extend the already generous Droid MAXX performance in this area.

A recent price check shows that the Verizon Wireless Motorola Droid MAXX has benefited from a retail price reduction, and was spotted at the Amazon Wireless store online starting at around $69 on contract. The handset delivers an outstanding 48.0 hours of all-around use from a full battery charge, and supports wireless charging. That is four times the industry average, with standby battery power lasting approximately 3 weeks.

The Motorola Droid MAXX offers a large 5.0 True HD OLED display, a speedy 1.7 GHz custom processor package, 32 GB of internal storage and 2.0 GB of RAM system memory. Built in a slim form factor, the phone measures just 8.5 mm (0.33 inches) in thickness. A rugged Kevlar back plate joins Corning Gorilla Glass scratch resistance for the display to make for a durable phone, and the Motorola Droid MAXX 4G also delivers “always on” environmental awareness through the incorporation of a special natural language processor which allows you to wake up the handset and operate it using your voice.
