droidmaxxToday smartphones can notify you of any notifications or important information you need to act on. This is especially helpful if you have just left a business commitment or some other situation where you had to quiet your notifications for an extended period of time. And while this is offered in many different ways across operating systems and smartphones, the Motorola Droid MAXX recently received an upgrade to its Touchless Control application which does so in a fun but useful manner.

Also delivered to the Droid Mini, Droid Moto X and Droid Ultra, the application update is available through the Google Play Store. You must have downloaded Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat operating system to benefit from this new notification upgrade, but you’ll be glad you did once you complete the download. Simply put, Touchless Control allows you true hands-free mobility through the combined power of your Motorola Droid MAXX language processor and Google Now.

Just tell your handset, “Okay, Google Now.” If your Droid MAXX is in standby mode it will awaken, and then you can say, “What’s Up?” The easy-going and simple phrase triggers Google Now to deliver notifications and other information you need to act on which you have not been informed of already. And the Motorola Droid MAXX 4G running on Verizon also recently benefited from a new, lower retail price, which is available through the Amazon Wireless store online.

The phone debuted alongside the Droid Ultra and Droid Mini, with all of those handsets offering the new custom firmware which makes up the X8 Mobile Computing System. That line of smartphones has been popular among Android shoppers, and includes a 720P display, 2.0 GB of RAM, and a 10.0 megapixel main camera. The language processor which allows for the Google Now integration with Touchless Control is one of the eight processing cores in the customized hardware package which speeds up overall operation and efficiency by sharing low draw and low priority operations.

The Motorola Droid MAXX lives up to its maximum moniker through the onboard 3,500 mA battery. A single charge of that extended life cell delivers a full 48.0 hours of run time, but the handset is also exceptionally slim. Measuring just 8.5 mm (0.33 inches) in thickness, the durable phone is protected by a back plate made of DuPont Kevlar, and a protective Gorilla Glass display overlay. The screen runs a full 5.0 inches, delivering a resolution of 720 by 1,280 pixels. The Motorola Droid MAXX also supports wireless charging and NFC connectivity.
