CNET recently reviewed the Motorola Droid MAXX 4G Android phone running on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the United States. The company then blatantly called the brand-new handset the “best Verizon Android phone” currently available, and went on to say that it may be the best Android phone Verizon has ever offered. CNET gave the Droid MAXX 4G a perfect 5/5 stars, a higher score than the Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5 phones. They pointed to overall performance and friendly user interface, and were absolutely in love with the 48 hour run time the extended life battery provides.
You can pre-order the Motorola Droid Maxx at select online retailers starting at $249.99, which is a savings of up to $50 over carrier prices. The phone is scheduled to start shipping around 8/27. You can also pre-order directly from Verizon starting at a price of $299.99.
The handset retails for around $249 on contract currently at the Verizon Wireless store, and one of the reasons for the incredible battery performance is the special set up that the X8 Mobile Computing System chip package on the Droid MAXX has received. A total of eight processing cores is involved, including a multitasking quad core graphics processor, and speedy dual core central processor. That CPU has been clocked at 1.7 GHz, with that extra speed coming from the fact that individual native language processing and computing cores handle many everyday and low energy tasks.
This allows the CPU to focus on only your most important requests and operations, and Motorola says that chip set up gives the 3,500 mA battery on the phone up to 50% more capacity than a standard chip package. Motorola has advertised the handset as delivering an “always on” experience, and your phone understands your verbal requests even when in hibernation mode or sleeping. Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 is on board, and the phone is protected with a Kevlar body.
Slim at just 0.33 inches (8.5 mm), the Motorola Droid MAXX on Verizon offers a large 5.0 inch screen protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. Resolution runs 720 by 1,280 pixels, and the talk time of up to 48 hours after a full charge is supported by wireless charging. The handset also delivers a full 32 GB of built-in storage and 2.0 GB of RAM memory.
The rear facing 10.0 megapixel camcorder provides video capture at 1,080P HD resolution, and also offers a quick capture mode which can be accessed by quickly turning your wrist twice. A front facing chat cam with a 2.0 megapixel sensor is also on board, and the handset offers NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi wireless connectivity options, as well as the ability to function as a central hotspot for multiple wireless devices.
You can pre-order the Droid Maxx at a discounted price tag starting at just $249.99 at select online retailers. You can also opt to pre-order directly from Verizon starting at $299.99.
