To say that the Motorola Droid Razr 4G Android smartphone was heavily advertised on television and the Internet when it launched late last year would be the understatement of this early century. Designed as the skinniest handset ever made at the time it debuted, the Droid Razr 4G was shown slicing through fire hydrants, telephone poles and all other sorts of objects in the media blitz in an attempt for Motorola to drive home the razor thin profile the handset delivered. Fortunately for Motorola and Verizon Wireless, the handset also delivers a high level of technical features and performance that continue to make it a best seller on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the United States more than 10 months after it launched.

The Motorola Droid Razr is on sale now starting at 49.99.

The handset is currently priced at bargain-basement levels, and is still exclusive to the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system which provides simultaneous data and voice access to the Droid Razr 4G. Arriving on November 11 last year in the middle of the holiday shopping season, the 0.28 inch (7.1 mm) thick handset was far and away the skinniest designed to that point. Weighing 4.48 ounces (127 g), the Droid Razr is also light when compared to other 4G smartphones.

The Motorola Droid Razr 4G display runs 4.30 inches, employing Super AMOLED technology to deliver 16 million color visuals and 540 x 960 pixel resolution to the capacitive, multitouch screen. A proximity sensor helps conserve battery life and a light sensor automatically adjusts for the best possible brightness in any situation, and a protective layer of scratch and chip resistant Corning Gorilla Glass overlays the screen.

On the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network, the Motorola Droid Razr 4G delivers up to 9.0 hours of talk time from a single charge of the 1,780 mg cell on board, and Motorola uses a Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 microchip package to power the handset. That includes a 1.2 GHz Cortex A9 dual core central processor that joins a graphics specific PowerVR SGX540 GPU in processing your requests. The handset comes with 16 GB of storage built in, and a microSD slot which provides storage expansion, supporting cards up to 32 GB in size.

The handset contains a front facing VGA quality chat cam and rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder, and that rear device records video in 1,080P HD resolution. That rear snapper also offers low light camera operability with a built-in LED flash, and delivers autofocus and image stabilizing features. The front facing chat cam can also offers video call support, and video out is provided by both DLNA wireless and HDMI wired technology.

Buy the Motorola Droid Razr 4G now starting at 49.99.
