The Droid Razr 4G smartphone lineup has been extremely successful for Motorola Mobility, so much so that it attracted Google to purchase the company earlier this year. The Droid Razr 4G introduced super slim smartphones which still deliver powerful features, the Droid Razr MAXX 4G delivers maximum battery performance, and the Droid Razr HD retains both of those attractive attributes, adding the largest high resolution screen Motorola has ever designed for a mobile handset.
Offered in your choice of black or white body color, the familiar DuPont Kevlar back plate and aircraft grade aluminum body has returned from previous Droid Razr models. The display is protected by an overlay of Corning Gorilla Glass, and a special nanocoating delivers waterproof splash resistance for both the interior and exterior components. The handset is slimmer than the average 4G smartphone at 0.33 inches (8.1 mm), and weighs 5.15 ounces (146 g).
The handset supports Near Field Communications (NFC) connectivity and DLNA video out wireless options out-of-the-box, and the large 4.70 inch capacitive, multitouch display is represented in more than 16 million colors. The overall screen resolution runs 720 x 1,280 pixels, which is delivered at a high-end pixel density of 312 pixels per inch. That Super AMOLED screen contains standard light and proximity sensors which help conserve battery life for the Droid Razr HD handset.
Battery conservation efforts help a single cell charge deliver up to 16.0 hours of talk time, with roughly 12.0 days of battery standby power. On board sensors in the hardware package include an accelerometer, compass and barometer, and the microchip set chosen for the Droid Razr HD is a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 model. At its core is a dual core 1.5 GHz Krait central processor, with an Adreno 225 GPU handling all graphics processing.
Continuing in the hardware profile we find 16 GB of built-in storage, and a microSD slot providing storage expansion opportunity. External memory cards up to 32 GB and size are supported, and the handset delivers 1.0 GB of RAM system. The same 8.0 megapixel camcorder/1.3 megapixel chat cam combo returns from previous Droid Razr models, and that rear facing chat cam captures video in 1,080P HD resolution. The front facing chat cam is capable of providing portrait snapshot capture and video call support, and a built-in music player joins a YouTube video player in the multimedia package on board the Motorola Droid Razr HD.
