The Motorola Droid Razr HD 4G Android smartphone is currently retailing for less than $150 on contract during the Amazon Wireless holiday sale. Released in October of this year, the handset delivers a battery with 40% more capacity than the original Droid Razr 4G. That lends the handset extreme battery life, and it borrows from the super skinny profile of its Droid Razr 4G predecessor, adding a powerful dual core processor and large high-resolution display.
The Motorola Droid Razr HD is available for a reduced price tag is on sale now starting at $149.99.
The handset delivers Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0 out-of-the-box, but Motorola has promised Droid Razr HD owners a $100 credit if they do not deliver Jelly Bean 4.1 by the end of the year. Offered in your choice of black or white, the handset supports applications like the wireless data transfer Android Beam app through NFC (Near Field Communications) technology.
The handset comes with the Chrome for Android web browser preloaded out-of-the-box, and the extended life battery benefits from Motorola’s SmartActions application that allows you to set battery saving rules. Exceptionally thin when compared to other smartphones, the Motorola Droid Razr HD measures 0.33 inches (8.4 mm) in thickness, and a waterproof nanocoating joins a Kevlar and aluminum body and Corning Gorilla Glass display overlay to make for a very rugged handset.
The large 4.7 inch display on the Droid Razr HD is a Super AMOLED model, delivering a high-end resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. Pixel density runs 312 pixels per inch, and the standard capacitive, multitouch gestures you are familiar with are used to navigate the device. The handset offers video out through DLNA connectivity, and the 2,530 mA battery on board delivers 16.0 hours of talk time from a single charge. Standby time runs 11.9 days, and that single charge also provides 10.0 hours of video playback, a full 6.0 hours of browsing the Internet at 4G LTE speeds or 20.0 hours of streaming music.
The handset is powered by a dual core 1.5 GHz central processor, a separate Adreno 225 GPU handles all graphics processing, and 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board. Built-in storage runs 16 GB, and a microSD slot provides storage expansion. The same high resolution 8.0 megapixel camcorder returns from the original Droid Razr 4G, and on the front of the handset is a 1.3 megapixel chat cam. Video capture runs 1,080P HD resolution, and a built-in music player joins a YouTube video player on board the Motorola Droid Razr HD.
