Over a month ago Motorola Mobility released a list of their handsets which would be receiving the Jelly Bean 4.1 Android operating system upgrade. Just last week the Motorola Droid Razr M 4G got that Jelly Bean 4.1 update, and next in line is the Motorola Droid Razr HD 4G Android smartphone. That handset operates on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the United States, and is offered in your choice of either black or white body color.
With the Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 operating system out-of-the-box, the Droid Razr HD comes preloaded with the Chrome for Android web browser. Splash-proof thanks to a special nanocoating, the handset also has a rugged Kevlar and aluminum body. The screen is protected by a scratch resistant layer of Gorilla Glass, and the Droid Razr HD is exceptionally slim at 0.33 inches (8.4 mm). However, it boasts one of the largest high resolution displays in the entire smartphone marketplace.
That 4.7 inch Super AMOLED screen gives viewers a total 16 million colors when rendering visuals, and they are delivered at a high-end pixel density of 312 pixels per inch. Total screen resolution runs 720 x 1,280 pixels, and the standard capacitive, multitouch gestures are used to navigate the handset’s menus. A light sensor automatically corrects for the best amount of display brightness considering the amount of ambient light hitting the screen, and a proximity sensor conserves battery life by dimming the display when you lift the Droid Razr HD to your face to make or receive a voice call.
Talk time on the Droid Razr HD is 16.0 hours and standby power is 11.9 days from a single battery charge, and Motorola chose a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 suite of microchips to handle device operations on the Droid Razr HD. That handset contains a powerful dual core 1.5 GHz Krait central processor, leaving graphics processing up to the separate Adreno 225 GPU. 16 GB of storage are built in, as is 1.0 GB of RAM system memory, and a microSD slot provides storage expansion capability.
Popular applications YouTube and Picasa are built-in, as is a music player supporting all major audio file formats, and the front facing chat cam can also be used for video calls. Built into the back of the handset is an 8.0 megapixel camcorder with autofocus and LED flash, and it is capable of recording video in 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1,080 P HD resolution). That rear snapper also offers touch to focus, Geo tagging, face detection and image stabilization, and contains an f/2.4 lens.
You can purchase the Motorola Droid Razr HD for a reduced price now starting at $19.99.
