Verizon Wireless is holding their annual Holiday Sale the same time as the Amazon Cyber Monday Deal Week. That means that you can currently get the Motorola Droid Razr M 4G Android smartphone for only $0.01 on contract at the Amazon Wireless store. The phone is offered in your choice of either black or white, and was launched on September 10 on Verizon’s 4G LTE network in the US. The phone is slim at 0.33 inches (8.3 mm) in thickness, and delivers Near Field Communications (NFC) wireless support out-of-the-box.
Originally launching with Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 operating system, last week the Droid Razr M received an over the air transfer to the brand-new Jelly Bean 4.1 OS. A new and improved Google Now experience includes a contextual search engine and personal virtual assistant much like the iPhone’s Siri. The handset disproves the theory that 4G LTE speeds and full feature sets can only be found in the large, clunky handsets, and the Droid Razr M 4G is smaller and more compact than the typical 4G smartphone with a 4.3 inch screen.
The handset measures 4.82 x 2.40 x 0.33 inches (122.5 x 60.9 x 8.3 mm) in size, and weighs 4.44 ounces (126 g). By stretching the 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Advanced display from corner to corner and edge to edge on the handset, Motorola designers were able to make the phone as small as possible. Pixel density runs above average for a 4G smartphone, at 256 pixels per inch, and more than 16 million individual colors are present on the 540 x 960 pixel display. Standard capacitive, multitouch gestures are supported.
A special nanocoating has been added, and protects the interior and exterior of the Droid Razr M 4G, and standard light and proximity sensors help conserve battery power. Anything you are viewing on your display can be pushed out to an external HDTV or monitor with DLNA video out connectivity. The Droid Razr M 4G contains a 2,000 mA battery, and battery conservation efforts have allowed for a full 20.0 hours of talk time from a single charge of that cell.
A Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 microchip package is on board, built around a dual core 1.5 GHz Krait central processor. An Adreno 225 GPU handles all graphics processing, 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board, as is 8.0 GB of built-in storage. A microSD slot allows for storage expansion, and the camcorder on the back of the handset is an 8.0 GB model. That rear facing snapper provides video capture at 1,080P HD resolution, and a front facing VGA quality chat cam is also present. Popular applications YouTube, and Picasa have been pre-installed and are ready for use out-of-the-box.
