The Motorola Droid Razr M is proof that 4G connectivity can arrive in a compact form factor. The handset delivers a dual core processor, large 4.30 inch display and extreme battery performance in a body that is lighter, smaller and slimmer than the typical 4G smartphone with the same screen size. And just in time for the holiday shopping season, Motorola’s Droid Razr M has received an update to the Jelly Bean 4.1 Android operating system.
That OS update includes Project Butter, which makes the user interface much smoother and quicker than previous Android operating systems. Camera operability has also been improved, and a new Google Voice Search experience allows you to speak directly to your phone in normal sentences. You may ask, “Will I need an umbrella today?” Your phone will then speak back the answer to you, or either run a search and deliver the results to your screen.
You can also set the improved Google Now to give you instant notifications regarding travel plans, local weather, calendar alerts and other programmable information automatically. And if you sign into the Chrome web browser on your desktop as well as the Chrome for Android browser on your Droid Razr M, you can sync your searches. The Motorola Droid Razr M 4G is built for toughness, with an aircraft grade aluminum frame and DuPont Kevlar back plate. The phone is also protected by a water repellent nanocoating, and Gorilla Glass offers scratch resistance to the display.
The display in question is a 4.3 inch qHD Super AMOLED model which has been stretched from edge to edge and corner to corner, delivering 40% more display and less body than other 4G smartphones with similar sized screens. Resolution runs 540 x 960 pixels, with video out provided by DLNA connectivity. The handset measures 4.82 x 2.40 x 0.33 inches (122.5 x 60.9 x 8.3 mm), and weighs 4.44 ounces (126 g), making it light and slim.
And as is the case with all the Droid Razr devices which have come along since the original Droid Razr 4G, battery performance is excellent. You can squeeze up to 20.0 hours of talk time from a single battery charge, making the Droid Razr M battery 40% more powerful than the iPhone 5. The handset is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core CPU, 1.0 GB of RAM memory is on board, as is 8.0 GB of built-in storage. The built-in microSD slot provides storage expansion, and the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder is capable of recording video in 1,080P HD resolution.
