Motorola had their designers and technicians build the skinny Droid Razr 4G smartphone as the slimmest handset ever built at the time it was released. And it is definitely slim. While battery performance was not that bad on the Motorola Droid Razr 4G handset, some smartphone shoppers complained that it could have been better. Motorola took those complaints to heart, kept all the wonderful qualities that the Droid Razr 4G possessed, and added an extended life, oversized battery which now delivers the maximum talk time offered by any 4G smartphone available today. The creation was dubbed the Motorola Droid Razr MAXX, and the handset also delivers the most out-of-the-box, user accessible data storage as well.
The Motorola Droid Razr Maxx is on sale now starting at 69.99.
The Droid Razr MAXX 4G uses the same Kevlar and aluminum coated rugged design of its skinnier twin, and still delivers the same splash-proof nanocoating on its insides. And with a removable 16 GB microSD card that ships with the handset, coupled with the 16 GB of built-in, user accessible data storage, that 32 GB of out-of-the-box data storage is the most provided by any smartphone. Not to be outdone in the “max” department, a proximity sensor helps conserve battery life, allowing the 3,300 mA cell on the Droid Razr MAXX 4G to deliver an incredible 21.5 hours of talk time from a single charge, or alternately 15.0 hours of video playback.
The Motorola Droid Razr Maxx 4G handset is currently exclusive to the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network in the United States where it debuted, and the 4.30 inch Super AMOLED advanced display on the handset is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass which offers scratch resistance and glare reduction. Resolution runs 540 x 960 pixels on the touchscreen which supports multitouch, capacitive gestures. A dual core 1.2 GHz Cortex A9 central processor joins a separate PowerVR SGX540 graphics processing chip in the Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 microchip package on board, and even with all that hardware and a fat battery, the handset is slim at only 0.35 inches (8.99 mm) in thickness. A built-in microHDMI slot provides video out capability.
Arriving on January 26 this year in the US, the Droid Razr MAXX 4G delivers simultaneous voice and data access on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network, and a front facing VGA quality chat cam joins a rear mounted 8.0 megapixel camcorder in the camera combo on board the handset. The rear facing camcorder provides video capture at 1,080P HD resolution, and comes equipped with a built-in LED flash. The handset also delivers a built-in music player which supports all major audio file formats, and a proprietary YouTube video player is built in.
