The Motorola Droid Razr MAXX 4G takes all the rugged, durable physical qualities of its Droid Razr 4G sibling and adds extreme battery performance. The Droid Razr 4G was the skinniest handset ever built when it was launched on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the US, and Motorola designers and engineers have successfully kept the Droid Razr MAXX 4G as skinny as a handset can get with a 3,300 mA extended life battery on the back. The handset is still slimmer than most at 0.35 inches (8.9 mm) in thickness, but delivers a full 15.0 hours of video playback or 21.5 hours of talk time from a single battery charge.

And with a splash resistant Splashguard nanocoating, the handset is not ruined by incidental water contact, with even the interior electronics carrying a splash-proof rating. The handset also uses aircraft grade aluminum and DuPont Kevlar in the development of its body, and protects the screen against scratching and chipping with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. All that durability is wrapped around a 1.2 GHz dual core Cortex A9 central processor which is a part of the Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 microchip package on board the handset. Graphics processing is handled by a PowerVR SGX540 chip.

On the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system that independent reviewer RootMetrics called the fastest and most dependable in the US, the 1.2 GHz CPU is speedy and powerful. Displays are rendered in 540 x 960 pixel resolution on the 4.30 inch Super AMOLED Advanced screen in more than 16 million different colors, and standard capacitive, multitouch gestures are used for device navigation. The Droid Razr MAXX 4G has a single charge standby time of nearly 16 days, and video out is provided by a wired microHDMI slot or wireless DLNA access.
