The Droid Razr MAXX HD offers one of the largest displays, and one of the highest display resolutions, of any 4G smartphone. The handset launched on and is exclusive to the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the US, and has a been a flagship phone for that carrier since it arrived on October 18 of last year. Global ready for more than 205 countries around the world, built in a slim form factor, the handset also offers a triple layer of security that a lot of smartphone shoppers do not know about.
First off, if you use your mobile handset for business, you will appreciate that the Droid Razr MAXX HD Jelly Bean powered smartphone offers remote access to its hard drive from any computer with an Internet connection. This means that if the handset is ever lost or stolen, you merely fire up the nearest PC, and you can erase your handset’s hard drive. Another layer of security comes with the optional personal identification number locking system.
You can program your phone with a number which must be entered before even the simplest of operations is performed. And to keep people guessing, you can change that PIN number at any time. Also, you can set your Droid Razr MAXX HD to employ the government level data encryption it comes programmed with. This does not come set out-of-the-box, but by heading over to your security settings, you can protect your e-mail information, calendar and contacts with high-level data encryption technology.
The phone is also durable physically, in the tradition of previous Droid Razr models. A splash-proof nanocoating protects both the interior and exterior of the handset, and the Droid Razr MAXX HD provides a layer of scratch resistant Gorilla Glass over the display. The phone’s body is designed with a rugged DuPont Kevlar back plate, and tough aircraft grade aluminum framing surrounds the display. And even though the phone offers an oversized, extended life battery, it is still slim at 0.37 inches (9.3 mm).
The display referenced above is a Super AMOLED model of 4.70 inches, with an overall resolution of 1,280 by 720 pixels. The handset delivers a high-end pixel density of 312 ppi, and more than 16 million colors grace the screen. Video out options are on board, high definition video is recorded by the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder at 1,080P HD resolution, and the dual core CPU has been clocked at 1.5 GHz. 1.0 GB of RAM memory and 32 GB of internal storage are present, as well as a microSD slot for storage expansion. The device also delivers up to 21.0 hours of talk time from a single battery charge.
