The Droid Razr MAXX HD is a 4G handset that lives up to its very revealing name with maximum battery performance and out of the box data storage. The handset also earns its Razr moniker by being razor thin, following in the footsteps of the original Droid Razr 4G, which was the thinnest smartphone ever built when it was released over a year ago. And the HD is well earned, as the Razr MAXX HD delivers the same HD high resolution screen found on its predecessor, the Droid Razr HD.
Launched on October 18 and exclusive to the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the US, the handset measures 5.19 x 2.67 x 0.37 inches (131.9 x 67.9 x 9.3 mm) in size, and is offered in your choice of black or white. A special nanocoating protects the inside and outside of the Droid Razr MAXX HD against everyday spills and incidental liquid contact, and the Corning Gorilla Glass screen ensures you keep a scratch free display.
The Razr MAXX HD is also built in a rugged style, with a Kevlar and aluminum body constructed around a large 4.70 inch Super AMOLED screen. The more than 16 million colors used to create visual displays are presented at 312 pixels per inch, for a high end resolution rating of 720 x 1,280 pixels. That display can be ported to an external source with DLNA wireless and microHDMI wired connectivity options, and the power conserving proximity and light sensors help the 3,300 mA battery produce top notch performance levels.
Talk time runs a very high 21.0 hours, video playback is 13.0 hours, streaming your favorite videos gives 10.0 hours of viewing, and an incredible 27.0 hours of music streaming are all possible from a single charge, when in Verizon 4G LTE coverage zones. The Motorola Droid Razr MAXX HD 4G delivers Picasa and Youtube out of the box, and is NFC (Near Field Communications) compatible as well.
Video is captured at a rate of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1,080p HD resolution) with the rear facing 8.0 MP camcorder, while the chat cam up front can be used for video calls and snapshots. The Razr MAXX HD offers a full 32 GB of built-in data storage, the most of any 4G smartphone, and a microSD delivers storage expansion. The CPU is a dual core Krait chip clocked at 1.5 GHz, with an Adreno GPU also part of the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 microchip package. 1.0 GB of LP DDR2 RAM memory is also present.
