Offering what is arguably the premier battery performance package of any 4G smartphone with a large high-resolution screen and power-hungry feature set, the Droid Razr MAXX HD sits atop the smartphone marketplace in that regard. The handset launched on October 18 of last year with a personal notification number locking system to protect your sensitive information, and is offered in your choice of black or white. With NFC wireless support delivered out-of-the-box, government grade data encryption is also present for your e-mail, calendar and contacts.
And should your Droid Razr MAXX HD ever become stolen or lost, you can erase the hard drive remotely from any PC with an internet connection. The handset is slim at 0.37 inches (9.3 mm), but nonetheless delivers a large high-resolution screen. A durable aircraft grade aluminum frame surrounds the 4.70 inch Super AMOLED screen, which delivers a full 312 pixels per inch for an overall 720 and 1,280 pixel resolution. 16 million total colors can be found on the display, which is protected against chipping and scratching by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass.
That display supports the typical capacitive, multitouch gestures which are used on most handsets, and both microHDMI and DLNA video out options are present. The battery performance alluded to earlier squeezes a full 21.0 hours of talk time from the 3,300 mA cell on board the handset. A single charge of the Droid Razr MAXX HD also delivers 8.0 hours of continual web surfing, 10.0 hours of streaming video, 13.0 hours of video playback and a generous 27.0 hours of streaming music.
A full 15.5 days of battery standby power is also achieved on the Droid Razr Maxx HD, and the battery can charge in as few as 4.0 hours. The dual core 1.5 GHz Krait CPU which powers the handset lies at the core of a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 microchip package, and 32 GB of data storage is built-in. The on board microSD slot provides storage expansion, and Motorola has included 1.0 GB of LP DDR2 RAM memory.
The handset recently benefited from a retail price reduction at the Amazon Wireless store online, and is currently offered for around $99 on contract. Offering NFC wireless support out-of-the-box, the Droid Razr MAXX HD is also capable of recording your video memories in 1,080P HD resolution. The rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder also delivers smile and face detection, image stabilization, autofocus, touch to focus and an LED flash, and the front facing chat cam runs 1.3 megapixels, also offering video call access. Popular applications YouTube and Picasa have been pre-installed, as has the Chrome for Android mobile web browser.
