When a new piece of mobile technology arrives with a super–skinny profile, an alarm  bell that immediately goes off in the mind of the consumer-electronics shopper concerns battery life. Smartphone, tablet and laptop manufacturers usually turn to the battery first in an effort to trim down the size of their device. When a battery becomes smaller and thinner, run time usually lags. That means continually having to plug in and charge your handset, tablet or laptop, which then makes it less of a mobile device, and more of a wired one.

Buy the Droid Razr for only $169 for new customers and $229 for existing customers with new two year contract.

When Motorola debuted their new Droid RAZR 4G Android handset and it’s 0.28 inch (7.1 mm) profile, the same battery life fear mentioned earlier reared its ugly head. Not to mention the fact that concerns began to sprout up regarding processor size, as the hardware in a device generally causes it to be thicker as that hardware set increases in capability and size. Fortunately, Motorola was able to address both fears, and the results are a handset which has a healthy hardware set, and battery life 50% better than the average 4G smartphone.

Overall dimensions for the Motorola Droid RAZR that comes packed with the Gingerbread 2.3.5 operating system are 5.15 x 2.71 x 0.28 inches (130.7 x 68.9 x 7.1 mm). Weight runs 4.48 ounces (127 g), and aside from the thin profile, those are average number sets for a 4G smartphone. However, thanks to some energy-saving battery enhancements, run time from a single battery charge runs 12.50 hours, more than 4 hours ahead of the 4G smartphone average.

Although the Motorola Droid Razr was originally offered at $299 only two months ago, new customers can buy the Droid Razr for as little as $169 now.

And as mentioned earlier, the processing and hardware set on board the Motorola Droid RAZR was not sacrificed by delivering the thin design. The processor on board is a dual core Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 1.2 GHz chip, and joins 16 GB of onboard storage space and 1.0 GB of RAM memory in the hardware package. The built-in microSD slot allows for storage expansion up to 32 GB.

The display on board is a 4.30 inch Super AMOLED screen with capacitive multitouch gesture navigation and 540 x 960 pixel resolution. 16 million colors are present in that display, and a protective layer of scratch resistant Gorilla Glass overlays the screen. Dual cameras are present, and the rear 8.0 megapixel camcorder shoots video in 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution (1080p HD). A front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam also offers video call functionality.
