Google owned Motorola is rumoured to be preparing something huge. Sources say that this smartphone will be more affordable than the Nexus 4. Google introduced the Nexus 4 last year at a price of just $300, and it was a runaway hit given that it offered the same hardware at almost half the price in comparison to other smartphones. If one is to believe in these sources, Motorola could lower that tag even further i.e. $250, off contract.
The Moto X will be the company’s key phone in the North American continent, where it will lock horns with Apple’s iPhone. In Europe, the company is expected to have a Nexus like device under a different name according to sources in the Spanish press. Sporting the best value and unprecedented processing power for its price range, it is expected to sport a quad core processor with 2GB RAM, a 4.5 inch HD display and an 8 MP shooter with HD recording up to 1080p. The demand for such a performance centric phone at such an affordable price will definitely be sky high and Motorola will look to capitalize on the opportunity. Also, this time around Google should have learnt its lesson and have sufficient inventory by the holiday season.
In other news, Nokia will hold an event on July 11th in New York, where everyone expects to see the unveiling of the Nokia EOS, a revolutionary Windows Phone device packing PureView technology in a 41MP camera. So what differentiates this from its predecessor? The phone will be powered by Windows Phone 8, unlike its predecessor, which used Symbian. The name of the actually handset is yet to be released. Latest reports indicate that the phone could be the Lumia 1020 or the Lumia 909, following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the 808 PureView.
The phone will sport a 4.5 inch AMOLED HD+ PureMotion Screen at a pixel density of 332 ppi. A number of leaks over the past few weeks have revealed pictures and videos taken on the device, and the results are spectacular, from all quarters. Nokia seems to have blown everything out of the water with this device, and the leaked stills suggest that the lens quality will better even that of the PureView 808, which is quite a feat in itself. This release definitely makes Windows Phone a viable alternative for smartphone users craving a great camera experience – a differentiating factor the OS has needed for a while.
