New Asus Windows 8 powered tablet coming to challenge new iPad

Getting a new tablet in the mobile world is only as difficult as you make deciding which one to choose as there are plenty of options at all of the price ranges that you can imagine.  Asus is one company that has no problem getting products to the market for consumers to drool over and the latest, Windows 8 powered tablet could be one that Apple might want to keep its eye on.  The Asus Transformer Book T100 could bring the heat for Apple’s iPad and the latest Android powered tablets on the market and with a price tag that reads only $349, consumers will take notice of it.

The new tablet is powered by Windows 8.1, comes with a detachable keyboard dock and what Asus claims to be an all-day battery.  The tablet is powered by a brand new, quad-core Bay Trail processor that should be efficient enough to give users about 11 hours of continuous time on their device.  For the price mentioned earlier, you can get the 32GB of internal memory and if you want to double that you will only  be paying about $399.  Both of the models feature a 10.1-inch touch screen display with 1266×768 resolution, a microSD card slot and 2GB of RAM.

The brand new, quad-core Bay Trail processor will provide about 2.4GHz of performance and will be listed as one of the fastest devices on the market once it becomes available to the public.  The detachable keyboard will be a nice option and one that is often sold as an accessory rather than one that comes with the initial purchase.  A micro USB, micro HDMI and USB 3.0 ports are also supported on the device.  The overall build is solid even though it is plastic.

The Asus Transformer Book T100 will be in stores by the 18th of October and will come pre-loaded with the Windows 8.1 software.  The T100 does not offer a display with 1080p HD resolution or even one that is close in pixel density to the Retina display from Apple, but the other pieces of hardware will certainly make up for that.  Even though the T100 will ship with Windows software, it does not have free access to the Windows Office suite of programs, while the iPad will have access to Apple’s iWork suite giving users access to work related software increasing the usability of the device.
