A leaked picture of what is rumored to be the iPhone 5S surfaced on the internet recently. There have been several such pictures in the past, but this particular leak gives a more detailed idea of what the smartphone has packed under its hood, and also gives an indication as to the physical dimensions and design of the device. Although there exists no authentic source that can confirm whether this is indeed the much anticipated iPhone 5S, there is enough reason to believe this is the real deal. The elements and connectors on the circuit board resemble those from a previous leak. Also, the opening for the LED bulb is oval in shape, another resemblance from iPhone diagrams that were leaked a few days ago.
The oval shape is speculated to accommodate a dual LED flash. Rumours about the LED possessing a bluish tint have been rampant on websites for almost a year now. However, none of this speculation can be confirmed from the leaked picture. If the leaked pictures were indeed that of the iPhone 5S, then Apple seems to have retained the design specifications as those in the iPhone 5.
Looking closely at the inside of the phone we find that the battery is rated at 5.95 watt hours. This is a decent upgrade considering that the iPhone 5 was rated at 5.45 watt hours. The custom Apple-built SoC is not identifiable in these leaked pictures, which still leaves doubts as to whether a new A7 chip will be debuting in the next version of the iPhone. MacRumors highlights the fact that the silicon for the device was manufactured in 2012, indicating that the device photographed could have the older A6 SoC for testing purposes.
The much anticipated iPhone 5S will arrive later this year in what is rumoured to be a joint release along with a cheaper iPhone model. Both the phones will be powered by iOS 7, with 4 inch displays. The low cost model is expected to be thicker, with a plastic outer body unlike the popular iPhone with its famous aluminium design. Along with this leak, pictures of the Galaxy Note III also surfaced on the internet. The design of the new Note seems like a bulked-up version of the Galaxy S IV. These pictures came from the same source which revealed authentic pictures of the Galaxy S4 Mini well before its launch. The flagship Samsung phablet will debut this fall and promises an array of jaw dropping specs.
