As we approach September 10, the scheduled date for the Apple event where the new iPhones are expected to be unveiled, the pace of rumors and leaked information about them is fast increasing. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is latest the source of the latest leaked information about the upcoming Apple devices. It is being said that Apple will announce the new iPhone 5S with a huge 128 GB storage. All the previous iPhone versions have offered a maximum of 64 GB in internal storage. At the moment, only the 4G iPad offers a 128 GB model in all of Apple’s iOS product range. Given the pricing scheme that Apple follows, the largest capacity model of the iPhone 5S could be priced at $499 with a 2 year contract, making it the most expensive smart phone in the US to be sold on a subsidy.
It is also expected that Apple will stock the new iPhone with the new A7 chip with 1 GB LPDDR3 RAM. The chipset designed by Apple is based on the ARMv8 architecture, and is much more energy efficient than the A6. Kuo also confirmed that the 5S will offer an upgraded camera with dual LED flash. The new camera module will include a larger sized f2.0 aperture in order to improve its performance in low light; however the sensor should remain the same and provide 8 MP resolution. Apart from that it is being strongly suggested that Apple will move over its traditional color options of black and white, offering some new hues for the smart phone.
In other news, Target is promoting the iPhone 5 with an exchange scheme, reducing the price of the smart phone for customers willing to exchange their old iPhones for it. The retailer will offer at least $100 in discount on a new iPhone 5 with contract in exchange for an old iPhone 4 or 4S. This will reduce Target’s price for iPhone 5 to less than $50 as the smart phone is already available at a discount price of $150 with a carrier agreement at the vendor.
Apart from this, it seems that a further discount is also available for customers who want to exchange any working iPad or iPhone of previous generation. However, as the new iPhone models are just around the corner, it might not be the best idea to buy an iPhone 5 just weeks before the new version hits the market.
