gs4Last year we saw the Samsung Galaxy S III erupt onto the smartphone scene amidst global popularity. The handset was a massive success for Samsung, which has posted record profits the last two quarters (soon to be three), and recently stated they have made record earnings the last five financial quarters thanks to their Galaxy S line of smartphones. But before the Galaxy S III smartphone launched last year, Samsung released an ad campaign that poked fun at the Apple iPhone. That is evidently an advertising ploy which is in the past.

A new Galaxy S4 ad campaign has just hit virtual and television airwaves, and Samsung has decided to focus on pointing out neat new characteristics that the handset offers, without slinging mud at Apple or any other smartphone manufacturer. And while the ads do seem a little bland, as if Samsung is trying not to be “too cool” as one tech blogger recently wrote, they do point out worthwhile features that the most anticipated mobile handset of 2013 will be bringing to the smartphone marketplace.

This new approach in advertising the upcoming handset must be working. Carphone Warehouse is one of the largest independent wireless retailers in the United Kingdom, and they recently reported that they have received a record number of pre-registrations for the Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone, a level which is four times as many as they received for last year’s Galaxy S III. And the Galaxy S4 continues to be one of the most searched for smartphone names in Google and other search engines heading into its upcoming launch.

Much of the smartphone buying public is anxious to get their hands on the Floating Touch feature which allows you to control the phone by merely making hand gestures, never touching the display. The Galaxy S4 is also delivering a large 4.99 inch OLED screen with impressive pixel density of 441 pixels per inch. The phone is rumored to offer cutting-edge eyeball tracking technology which will allow the handset to automatically scroll when more content is available as your eyes reach the bottom of the screen. And the S Translator integration is the focal point of at least one commercial hawking the Galaxy S4, which will be powered by a quad core CPU in the US version.

The Android Jelly Bean operating system is set to run the handset out-of-the-box, and Samsung has already promised the Key Lime Pie 5.0 OS upgrade for the much awaited Galaxy S4. Super slim and light for such a large phone, the handset will weigh just 4.59 ounces (130 g) and measure only 0.31 inches (7.9 mm) in thickness. A full 2.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board, and the GS4 has a rear facing 13 megapixel camera which records video in 1,080P HD resolution.
