HTC has been working hard to keep up a good reputation for top notch smartphones, timely software updates and a popular user interface. The company released the HTC One this year and it was followed by a couple more smartphones with similar design and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Recently, the company has been the center of a rumor that suggests it will be bringing a new smartphone to the market and it will come along with the 6th edition of the HTC Sense user interface. The new smartphone is reportedly going to replace the current HTC One and is being called the HTC M8.

The M8 is likely to be a code name for now and it will get changed as the handset gets closer to being released. The information comes from a reliable source via Twitter who claimed that the “HTC M8 will be the first Sense 6.0 handset”, but other details were not revealed with that information. A picture of the alleged HTC One 2 was also posted, but it is most likely a rendering of what can be expected. The current HTC One came along with the new Sense 5.0 software pre-installed and it was a hit as soon as it arrived back in April.
The new user interface removed colorful animations in favor of a more favorable, minimalist interface. Content was put together in a Flipboard like style and that gave HTC users all the information they needed in a glance. Local news, social media feeds, text messages and emails were all brought to the home screen and it was called BlinkFeed. Since its debut, BlinkFeed has been updated a couple of times and has been getting more popular each time.
BlinkFeed was also responsible for giving other smartphone makers something to shoot for, including Samsung who released the My Magazines application that did very much the same thing. The Galaxy Note 3 came to the market with that app pre-installed for the first time and it has been reviewed in a positive light mostly. Specs and pricing were not mentioned in the leak, but in order for the HTC One 2 to keep the company competitive, certain hardware is going to be a must, including a 64-bit processor, more than 2GB of RAM and top of the line camera software.
