When mobile handsets first came out years ago, the one penny phone was the mantra of the industry. However, those phones could not do a fraction of what today’s smartphones can perform, and had nowhere near the capabilities. Phones with such functionality as the Motorola Moto X generally cost north of $100, and sometimes several hundred dollars. However, the Motorola Moto X is going to enter the 2014 New Year with a bargain bin price tag at one online retailer, and will do so with the new Android 4.4 KitKat operating system upgrade on board.
The Motorola Moto X is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $49.99 – $699.99.
Released back in August of 2013, the handset is currently available at the Amazon Wireless store online with a standard two-year contract for just one penny. The $0.01 on contract retail price delivers a phone which debuted a unique processing package when it hit the mobile marketplace. Motorola Mobility engineers have included eight cores that share processing duties, and this speeds up your experience, also making for more efficient operation. On a wonderful side note, this helps the Moto X 4G conserve battery power as well.
While the nearly free price tag currently offered for the Moto X on Amazon does make for an attractive Android purchase, the smartphone buyer needs to understand that they are still getting a capable and powerful device. The Active Display feature conserve battery power while only illuminating the portion of the display needed to show you a notification, but also understands when it is in your pocket or purse. It does not waste battery life by delivering notifications and other alerts when you will not see or hear them. However, as soon as you grab your phone, you are instantly given access to notifications, alerts and other information, without having to click through several screens to find out what you missed while you were away.
The Moto X also contains a special language processor that teams up with Google Now to provide Touchless Control. This Motorola feature allows true hands-free action, and you can wake up the handset with the sound of your voice, even if it is in standby mode, and even in a crowded and noisy room. You simply say, “Okay, Google Now,” and then follow up with any vocal requests that you have. You can surf the web, check the weather, download apps and games and even send e-mails with your voice.
A large display is on board at 4.70 inches, and that True HD screen delivers a resolution of 720 by 1,280 pixels, protected by a scratch resistant layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. Talk time runs at least 13.0 hours after a full charge, and Moto X 4G owners receive 2.0 GB of RAM memory and 16 GB of built-in storage space, as well as 50 GB of free Google Drive cloud storage. A 10.0 megapixel Quick Capture main camera is built into the back of the handset, providing 1,080P HD resolution video recording, with a video chat capable chat cam up front.
The Motorola Moto X can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $49.99 – $699.99.
