The Nexus 5 is likely to be the device that eyes will turn to now that the new iPhone has arrived from Apple and the Galaxy Note 3 is all but shipping from Samsung and according to new reports, the end of this month is when you can expect to see the device ship. The new Nexus branded device, which will arrive with the latest Android software, will be showcased on the 14th of this month at an event that Google has scheduled.
The FCC documents and images that have been leaked over the last few weeks, the Nexus 5 is all but confirmed for this month. The new smartphone is made via LG although it has not be given a name that is not a number at this point. The new phone is expected to be a huge jump up from the Nexus 4, which recently was listed as discontinued an played a part in the rumors that the fifth generation device was getting close to launching. Google has not been saying anything about the new device and it could be because the company will be showcasing it soon.
It will be on the 14th that Google is also expected to reveal the new Android 4.4 KitKat software as well. Last year, Google came along and announced the Nexus 4 in October, but did not release it to the public until November. It would appear for now that Google is ahead of that schedule giving hope to those that would like to see the smartphone in the United States soon. The new device is expected to come with a 5-inch touch screen display and be priced around the $300 to $400 range. The Nexus 4 was priced at just $299, which was less than half of the new iPhone 5 as the unlocked model.
The Nexus 4 gained a ton of attention at that price and was shortly out of stock more than once over the course of the time it was selling very quickly. Until Google gets an official announcement to the press, the release date and launch dates are considered rumors. The Nexus 5 is also expected to arrive with a Snapdragon 800 processor, 8MP camera and a design that looks similar to the Nexus 7 tablet.
