If you happen to be a Windows fanboy and are heavily into messaging and picture sharing, then you have most definitely heard about the Nimbuzz application. For those who haven’t, Nimbuzz is a nifty, little app that enables you to send SMS messages, group messages and even share pictures for free. With this features, the application is a sort of a competitor to other similar apps such as Kik and WhatsApp.
Although the popularity of Nimbuzz in US shores is not that high because it only has less than 9 million users in our side of the world, the application is very popular in emerging markets and have always been in the top three of the most downloaded Symbian applications on a global scale. Because of this, Nokia decided to make it a top-shelf application in the Windows Phone ecosystem.
With that in mind, the Finnish smarpthone manufacturer has confirmed that the new Nimbuzz Lumia Edition will be launched this Thursday. So if you happen to have a Nokia Lumia 900 4G for your mobile weapon of choice, you might want to mark that on your calendar so you can take the Lumia Edition of the Nimbuzz app for a spin.
Nokia further announced that this version of Nimbuzz was developed in conjunction with the Finnish smartphone manufacturer and will have glaring differences from the original version of the application. In addition to that, word on the street is that the Lumia Edition of the Nimbuzz app will pack more features that the non-Lumia version. In addition to Nimbuzz, Nokia also announced that it will also port 10 top Symbian applications over to the Nokia Lumia 900 4G but did not give out details as to what those Symbian apps will be and when can they be expected become available.
As for the Nokia Lumia 900 4G, its days as the Nokia flagship device are already numbered given the fact that the manufacturer is expected to unveil its new line of Windows Phone 8 devices this coming September 5. Despite that, the handset remains as one of the best options in the Windows Phone platform given its impressive resume and even more impressive capabilities.
The handset recently received the much-anticipated Tango update which brought a slew of goodies and treats to the Nokia Lumia 900 4G. Most notable among these is the Flip to Silence functionality but those who have already applied the update to their handsets swear that the camera of the Nokia Lumia 900 4G got significantly improved after the update. With this in play, expect the Nokia Lumia 900 4G to linger much longer in the smartphone market given that despite the arrival of new Windows Phone devices, Windows Phone fanboys can always attest to the fact that the Nokia Lumia 900 4G is still one of the better performing handset out there in the WP ecosystem.
