As Nokia and Microsoft gear up to announce the new Lumia line of devices that are going to feature the Windows Phone 8, the situation for the Finnish manufacturer is what it was a while ago when it announced the original Lumia devices with WP7. These devices have to be successful for Nokia to regain its position on the world stage. Last year, the Lumia phones were released into a lot of excitement and another device, the Lumia 900 with 4G capabilities was announced. The fact remains that they weren’t all that successful in the market but Nokia regained some element of respect because of them.
Though the phones were not the smash hits that Nokia hoped they would be, the Lumia devices performed all right. They did just the right amount to ensure that the company remained a player in the game that it was once so dominant in. Analysts believe that this time Nokia has a lot of convincing to do. It needs to get the message across that it can develop the best hardware and software for the Windows Phone platform. If Nokia is able to do that and assuming Microsoft has done its job well, the future just might turnaround for Nokia.
With the legal battle between Apple and Samsung coming to an end and Apple emerging victorious, there has been a shift away from the Korean giant and the Android community as a whole. This might have prompted Samsung to release its Windows Phone devices early but they weren’t received with the excitement that Samsung would have liked. The balance is still in Nokia’s favor as far as WP8 is concerned and the Finnish manufacturer is looking to make as much of it as possible with the launch next week.
Rumors about the features of the new Lumia devices continue to surface as the launch date draws near. Each one is more exciting than the last and while it is known that the devices are going to be more powerful than the predecessors, there are some other things that will definitely make them more popular. They are now expected to feature wireless charging and are going to feature contacts on the back of the phone that will line up with the contacts on the charging pad. This is quite an improvement but it will definitely be thoughtful to have the regular charging feature too.
