You may have heard that Nokia has introduced a groundbreaking smartphone camera. The Nokia Lumia 1020 boasts a 41 megapixel sensor, a 6 lens Carl Zeiss camera, and popular PureView technology. To drive that powerful hardware is a special Nokia Pro Camera app that effectively harnesses the powerful camera on the back of the Lumia 1020. And Samsung just this week has announced that the Nokia Lumia 928 4G Windows smartphone will be receiving the same advanced Pro Camera software.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 debuted last week, and will definitely be the choice for discerning photographers who also happen to be shopping for a smartphone. But phones like the Nokia Lumia 928 4G running on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the United States also deliver an advanced camera experience compared to other smartphones. The 928 offers an 8.7 megapixel PureView camera which uses a special floating lens and optical image stabilization for flash-free snapshot and video capture in low-light situations.
A Xenon flash is included and is more powerful than the typical LED flash found on most smartphones, an f/2.0 lens aperture provides extra-wide panorama capture, and several special software “lenses” offer a multishot burst mode, movie-like animation and other special effects. Video on the Nokia Lumia 928 is recorded in 1,080P HD resolution, and with the new Pro Camera app, the 928 will give you much more control over your camera experience.
This includes letting you see what you are about to snap before you shoot it, a feature found on most cameras, but not on most smartphone snappers. The advanced photographic application also allows you manual control over your ISO, aperture, zoom, shutter and more. And as you make changes, the new preview feature updates the effect you are installing and shows you the outcome of the picture you are about to take, even before you take it.
Nokia Lumia 928 owners will first have to install a firmware update called Amber, which will be released later this month. The Nokia Smart Camera app will also be on board the Amber update, as well as other camera special effects and features. The handset is currently retailing for around $29 online with a standard two-year contract, and runs on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system. The phone also offers a large 4.50 inch display with an HD+ resolution of 768 by 1,280 pixels, and a pixel density of 332 pixels per inch.
