The recently announced Lumia 1520 is going to be arriving on the AT&T network and even though some information has leaked in recent weeks, this is for sure and it appears that subscribers will have four colors to choose from when it arrives. Recently leaked images of the device have shown the device in more ways than one, but the exact launch date has yet to officially nailed down by Nokia. Rumors suggest that the Lumia 1520 will be showing up on the AT&T network on the 8th of November.
For those of you that have been drooling over the leaked images, that might seem like a long time, but you know how time flies, especially in the mobile world. According to online sources, the Lumia 1520 will be launching in November and will be available in black, red, white and yellow on launch day. The off-contract price has been mentioned in the past and those of you that are looking to skip a contract with AT&T, will have to be willing to pay close to $700 for the privilege to do so. The on-contract price has not been mentioned, but typically a high end smartphone gets around $299.99 with a two-year contract.
According to the rumored specs for the device, the Lumia 1520 will be the highest end Windows Phone powered device on the market. It features a huge, 6-inch 1080p touch screen display with the super fast, quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor on the inside. Internal memory is going to top out at 32GB, which is plenty to start out with, but a microSD card slot will allow you to expand that memory up to another 64GB more giving you plenty of room for all the photos you will be taking with the 20MP camera sensor located on the back side.
The battery is expected to be a large one, listed at 3400mAh, and that is normal with a device with a quad-core processor, 1080p resolution and 20MP camera with tons of features. The Lumia 1520 might be a little large for some consumers, but phablet devices have recently been selling like hot cakes led by the Galax Note series from Samsung, so other companies have not had any choice but to join in or get left behind as those that joined zoom right past them.
