Over the last few weeks we have seen that Nokia is getting ready to release some sort of larger smartphone, or phablet, device to the public and as the rumored release date gets closer, more images are showing up online. Last week we saw an image that showed the new device that could be coming to the Verizon Wireless network and this week the Windows Phone powered device was shown off again, this time in images coming from China. The source there claims that the government is doing some testing on the Lumia 1520.
Even though the images are not the best quality, they clearly show a larger, Windows Phone powered device that can be assumed by the extra column of Live Tiles on the home screen. This was noticed when the first images were leaked and gave the indication that Nokia was about to announce the device which could come with a display that is up to 6-inches in size. The Nokia Lumia 1520 was also spotted in the Windows Phone GDR3 update information. Three capacitive buttons along the bottom of the device are the same as ones consumers have seen in other leaked images.
One online source has claimed that the public will be seeing the Lumia 1520 sometime in September, but another well known leaker has made claims that those plans have changed. Some that are familiar with the well known Twitter leakster, claims that the company is now looking to release the Nokia Lumia 1520 on the 22nd of October. That date would be much closer to the actual release that is reportedly going to happen in November, or just in time for the busy holiday shopping season. If you have been hoping to see the device sooner than later, your hopes might have been extinguished on the last rumor update.
Initial rumors suggest that the Lumia 1520 will come with a 6-inch touch screen display that sports a 1080×1920 resolution and a 367ppi pixel density. A quad-core processor is likely, but it is not known which one could be installed in the device. Typical hardware will also include a camera on the back side and front side, Bluetooth accessory support, Wi-Fi connection capability, 4G LTE support, GPS support, USB 2.0 and a microUSB port. Internal memory was not reported, nor was whether it would be expandable or not via microSD card slot.
