About one week ago, consumers learned that Nokia was going to bring the next phablet device into the market place and today we get to see it in a leaked image. The image reportedly shows the device with a case on it and the nice 1080p HD display. The release for the device is pegged for the end of September, so the information is likely to flow about the device very quickly over the next couple of weeks. The leaked photo shows the device next to the recently released Nokia Lumia 1020.
A few of the obvious changes that you can see in the image, are that the 1520 can except an extra column of Live Tiles due to its display size. Currently, Windows Phone 8 powered devices have the widest Live Tile taking up the width of the display in portrait orientation, but with the Lumia 1520, the widest Live Tile and a smaller Live Tile can be seen right next to one another in the same orientation. The Lumia 1520 has been leaked before with the code name of “Bandit”. The flip cover in the photo could just be for protection or it could also allow for wireless charging, but the latter is unclear.
On the most recent models, Nokia has finally added support for wireless charging, but it would only be added to accessory covers rather than being built into the smartphone. Doing this will keep the smartphone from getting too thick, which is one thing that Nokia is too well-known for. At this point, the Nokia Lumia 1520 is expected to arrive on the AT&T 4G LTE network and it would compete against other devices like the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Mega phablets.
The Lumia 1520 would be the seventh model from Nokia that is offered by AT&T, which also includes the Lumia 620 that is offered through the AIO Wireless which is owned by AT&T. In the image, it looks like the bottom of the huge 6-inch display of the Bandit, are the words proto.nokia.com, so it can be assumed that if you want more information you can head to that website for more. That website is put on all of the prototype devices prior to being released by Nokia. The phone is likely to arrive with a quad-core processor, new 20MP camera and the 1080p HD display.
