When taking a look at the Windows Phone ecosystem in the smsartphone competition, there are only two choices if you want to get your hands on high-end devices for the platform – the Nokia Lumia 920 and the HTC Windows Phone 8X. There are three actually, but the Samsung flagship ATIV S is yet to make its appearance in US shelves so we are sticking with the two aforementioned devices for the mean time.
Both the Nokia Lumia 920 and the HTC Windows Phone 8X are flagship devices of their respective manufacturers and the two handsets have already gotten the Portico update a couple of weeks back which clearly puts the two top-tier device on equal footing. However, it looks like the Nokia Lumia 920 has already gotten the better of the HTC handset because the Nokia flagship device is reportedly the top Windows Phone 8-powered handset over at AT&T.
The Nokia Lumia 920 was released exclusively by AT&T in US shores and is said to be doing really well in terms of sales. Though Nokia is yet to release details on how many units of its WP8 flagship device it has sold so far, there are reports that the Nokia Lumia 920 has gotten quite popular all over the place. In fact, mobile advertising agency AdDuplex has come with a report that further confirms this.
The advertising agency managed to collect data from 215 Windows Phone apps running AdDuplex SDK v.2 and based on its report, the Nokia Lumia 920 is now the most popular windows Phone 8-powered handset over at AT&T. Based on the data collected by AdDuplex, the Nokia Lumia 920 managed to gain a 16% market share as opposed to the other handsets that have been sitting in the shelves far longer than the current Nokia flagship handset.
In addition to that, when looking at the AT&T data, the Nokia Lumia 920 managed a market share of a league-leading 71% compared to the 18% of the HTC Windows Phone 8X and the 11% of the Nokia Lumia 820. This is not surprising at all given the fact that the Nokia Lumia 920 comes with a very impressive resume and an even more impressive set of features and functionalities that it brings to the table.
The addition of the Nokia Lumia 920 to the Windows Phone portfolio of AT&T was announced back in September of last year but it wasn’t until November when the handset finally made it the shelves of the wireless provider. The circuitry of the handset is built around its QualComm MSM8960 Snapdragon chipset and this SoC gives the device a dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and a full gigabyte of RAM. Storage space on the Nokia Lumia 920 is pegged at 32GB while its display is a 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ ClearBlack IPS TFT panel with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels. The handset’s shooting department on the other hand boasts of a rear 8MP PureView-powered shooter and a front 1.3MP video call and self-portrait snapper.
