Back in the day, Nokia was at the forefront of things in the smartphone competition during the heydays of the manufacturer’s E-Series line of devices. Sad to say, the Finnish manufacturer had to take the back seat when other big name manufacturers such as Apple, Samsung, HTC, Motorola and the like stormed the market and flooded it with their respective devices. From then on, it was all downhill for Nokia in the smartphone competition while it waited for its chance to regain its lost glory.
The chance came when Nokia entered into a strategic partnership with software giant Microsoft and it started coming up with devices for the Windows Phone ecosystem. It started its bid to become relevant again the smartphone market with the release of the Lumia 710 and Lumia 800 last year and then following it up with the release of the Lumia 900 4G last April which was an AT&T exclusive in US shores.
Nokia’s most recent attempt to dominate the smartphone market rests on the Nokia Lumia 920 which was unveiled recently. Similar to the Lumia 900 4G, the Nokia Lumia 920 will also be an AT&T exclusive once it gets released in US shelves but this time around, Nokia only agreed to a 6-month exclusivity period with AT&T. There is no doubt that the handset is one of the hottest smartphones in the Windows Phone platform right now but after that 6-month exclusivity with AT&T ends, the Nokia Lumia 920 will no longer be as hot as it is today.
In other news, reports are coming in that AT&T is already stepping up its preparation for the launch of the Nokia Lumia 920 in US shores. Representatives of the wireless provider are allegedly receiving training as of the moment are already being made familiar with the features of the handset along with its main selling points.
In fact, three training videos for the Nokia Lumia 920 have already surfaced to give us a look at what kind of training these AT&T reps are getting. The first video essentially gives us an overview of the Nokia Lumia 920 and its specification while the second one focuses on the wireless charging feature of the device and discusses the JBLPower-up wireless charging speaker for the handset. The last video on the other hand takes a look the Nokia Lumia 920’s augmented reality feature courtesy of the Nokia City Lens app along with its Tap and Share functionality.
In addition to the leaked videos, word on the street is that AT&T is about to come clean with its pricing and release plans for the Nokia Lumia 920 and rumors have it that the wireless provider is expected to make an announcement to that effect of October 21. Again, this are unconfirmed rumors and should be taken with a grain of salt as always but as soon as AT&T released more information about this, you’ll be the first to know.
