Nokia has plenty of options if you are looking to get into the smartphone market, but for the most part they are all offered with Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system pre-installed on them. If you are used to Android or even iOS, the step over to Windows Phone might be a big one. Recently, Windows Phone enabled support for 1080p resolutions and quad-core processors allowing Nokia to finally compete in the ever changing smartphone market. On the AT&T network, some Nokia handsets are getting updated with the Lumia Black software and according to reports, there is a second on in line just for that.
Some of those that own the Lumia 925 will be given that chance to preview the Windows Phone update without having to buy a new phone to get the latest software. AT&T has started to send out the Lumia Black update to those that have the Lumia 925, however the company had not made any announcement of the software update. If you were on the AT&T website lately and noticed the Lumia 925 page, you would have seen that the update was “waiting for approval” and that was still the case once users started reporting the update.
As of right now, the page now displays the word “available” where it once said that it was “waiting for approval”. The Lumia Black software will bring a specific set of features to the handset and that includes the introduction of Bluetooth LE. This allows those that have the Lumia 925 to use Bluetooth connection to communicate with devices and accessories that have Bluetooth LE enabled, like wearable computers, without putting extra strain on the battery. The update will also bring the Nokia Refocus app and that allows users to add focus to photos that have already been taken.
Nokia is very well known for its camera technology and with the software there will also be a updated Nokia Pro Camera and Smart Camera application installed together. In the past, Nokia had those on handsets as separate applications. New options for taking photos in low light situations has also been added to the Black software and the addition of more off screen notifications. If you have the Nokia Lumia 925 on another network you are still waiting for the update to get approved at this time.
