It has been reported that a communication of one of the vice presidents of AT&T with several of the wireless provider’s employees might have accidentally let slip the release date for the next generation iPhone from Apple.
The message from the unnamed vice president of AT&T to several of the company’s managers said that things are expected to get very busy in the upcoming 35 to 50 days and the managers were advised to remain prepared.
If this is to be believed, the much awaited iPhone 5 is supposed to come out sometime during this October. This news has been considered to be authentic as it matches well with several other rumors which already said that Apple is expected to announce the next iPhone this September and it will probably release in October.
Some anticipated release dates, however, even run back to early September, as was reported this June in Bloomberg, which predict that the date of the launch will likely be pushed back in order to match it with Apple’s unveiling of iOS 5 in fall this year. Sources have also touted the iPhone 5 to be powered by the A5 processor which is currently used in the iPad 2 and is almost twice as fast as the current iPhone 4’s A4 processor. The new phone is also expected to feature an 8 megapixel camera.
Other rumors related to the new features expected to be part of the iPhone 5 include support for the NFC capabilities for making wireless payments possible and also a touch screen which runs from one edge of the phone to the other. However, these rumors continue to stream in as the supposed release date approaches and many times they even contradict each other.
The popular consensus, though, seems to be a release date for this fall, which is supported by several reports from earlier this month which says that the wireless carriers are reported to be testing the stability and network compatibility issues for iPhone 5.
According to a media report, sources from inside the company have received several sealed and locked boxes which contain the iPhone 5 for carrying out network compatibility check in the carrier’s laboratories. It has also been reported earlier this week that Apple has increased its handset orders considerably for the second half of this year and half of these are said to be the iPhone 5s.
