When Motorola Mobility designed the Droid Razr M 4G Android smartphone, their goal was to make 4G connectivity possible in a slimmer, lighter and more compact phone than the average 4G handset. But they also wanted to offer a high resolution screen and large 4.3 inch display. And in the tradition of previous Droid Razr handsets, battery performance had to be extremely high.
They were successful by pushing the display from edge to edge and corner to corner on the front of the handset, leaving a nearly nonexistent bezel. This created a smaller, thinner and lighter phone than other 4G smartphones with the same size 4.3 inch display. And battery life is excellent, with a generous 20.0 hours of talk time offered from a single battery charge. The Razr M 4G is also rugged, with an aircraft grade aluminum and DuPont Kevlar frame, and protective Corning Gorilla Glass display overlay.
Android’s updated operating system Jelly Bean 4.1 recently came to the Droid Razr M 4G, and the handset runs on the 4G LTE system on Verizon. Currently retailing for one penny on contract during the Amazon Wireless holiday sales event, the handset is offered in your choice of either black or white. Handset dimensions run 4.82 x 2.40 x 0.33 (122.5 x 60.9 x 8.3 mm) inches, and the phone weighs 4.44 ounces (126 g).
The Droid Razr M has a 4.3 inch qHD Super AMOLED screen, with overall resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. 16 million colors are present on that display, which accepts standard capacitive, multitouch gestures for device navigation. That display, as well as the rest of the handset inside and out, is splash-proof thanks to a special nanocoating, and DLNA video out is present.
The CPU on board the Verizon Droid Razr M4G is a 1.5 GHz dual core model, with 1.0 GB of RAM memory and 8.0 GB of data storage built into the handset. A microSD slot provides storage expansion, with a rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder capturing video at 1,080P HD resolution. A front facing chat cam gives video call support, YouTube and Picasa applications have been pre-installed, and the Droid Razr M 4G is NFC (Near Field Communications) capable out-of-the-box. A built-in music player joins a YouTube video player in the handset’s multimedia package, and the Droid Razr M 4G can function as a central Wi-Fi mobile hotspot for multiple wireless devices.
