htcwp8xHTC released the Windows Phone 8X in November of 2012, and the handset benefits from speeds up to four times faster than AT&T’s old network on their new 4G HSPA+ system. HTC last year spent a good deal of money purchasing a controlling interest in the Beats by Dr. Dre audio platform, and they have included Beats Audio on their Windows Phone 8X for AT&T. Recently that handset was spotted online with a discounted price tag, and is currently offered for under $50 on contract at select online wireless stores.

The HTC Windows Phone 8X is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $0.01.

Beats Audio works by amplifying sound through dedicated speaker and headset jacks, and that sound amplification works whether you are listening to music, watching a video or movie, playing a game or enjoying any other activity which is sound enabled. Running on the most recent Windows Phone 8 operating system, the handset can be synced to your desktop or laptop Windows PC, and can also access any GSM or UMTS network on the planet. This is the first Windows Phone to deliver Beats Audio, and arrives in a slim 0.40 inches (10.1 mm) thick form factor.

Also light at 4.59 ounces (130 g), the HTC Windows Phone 8X provides a large 4.30 inch screen with True HD 720 by 1,280 pixel resolution. Pixel density runs extremely high, with 342 color pixels spread across each inch of display space. A full 16 million separate colors are present on that screen, which accepts the standard capacitive, multitouch gestures for navigation. The typical handset is dropped and mishandled throughout your normal day, and a layer of scratch resistant Gorilla Glass 2 protects against dings, chips and scratches.

The Windows Phone 8X on AT&T can provide a talk time of up to 11.30 hours after a full charge, as well as 12.1 days of standby battery power. HTC chose a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 system chip to power the handset, revolving around a dual core 1.5 GHz Krait CPU. An Adreno 225 GPU handles all graphics processing, the handset delivers a full 16 GB of built-in data storage space, as well as 1.0 GB of RAM system memory.

Many smartphones these days offer a wide angle rear facing camcorder, and that is the case with the Windows Phone 8X from HTC, offering an 8.0 megapixel rear camera with ultra-wide-angle 88 degree lens. However, unlike most smartphones, that extra wide capture capability is also present on the front facing 2.0 megapixel chat cam. Skype and video calls mean up to four people can fit in the shot, and the handset offers video recording at 1,080P HD resolution.

The HTC Windows Phone 8X can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $0.01.
