Samsung executives in Seoul, Korea are set to hold a closed-door meeting with high-ranking AT&T execs later this week where they will reveal a Galaxy Note 3 prototype. The handset is rumored to deliver a large 5.9 inch screen, and AT&T’s chief marketing officer of their American division will be present. After that announcement online retailer Amazon wasted no time in dropping the price of the Verizon Galaxy Note II phablet, and it currently retails for $149 on contract at that online Wireless store.
You can purchase the Galaxy Note II for Verizon at a reduced sale price now starting at $149.99.
The Galaxy Note II 4G smartphone running on Verizon’s 4G LTE system in the US delivers one of the largest screens of any mobile handset. It is also powered by a speedy quad core processor, delivers a handy multi-window split screen feature, and offers double the average amount of RAM memory typically found on a smartphone. High-resolution video capture is also on board, and the popular S Pen smart stylus has been revamped.
The S Pen is now 1 mm thicker and 8 mm longer, and feels more like a pen or pencil. Native handwriting recognition technology is integrated into the display, allowing you to write, doodle, draw and create original artwork in your own hand. The Galaxy Note II also delivers a hover feature, with the display recognizing the smart stylus before it touches the screen. This pen proximity is also evidenced in the alert the Galaxy Note II can provide when your stylus moves too far away from the phone.
The Galaxy Note II launched as the first handset to deliver the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out-of-the-box, and hit the Verizon network on November 9 of last year. Slim at 0.37 inches (9.3 mm), the Galaxy Note II delivers a large 5.55 inch Super AMOLED screen. That display is aligned in a 16 to 9 aspect ratio for true HD video viewing, offers a resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels, and is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2.
Talk time on the Verizon 4G LTE network runs as high as 15.0 hours from a full battery charge, and the handset is powered by a Samsung Exynos 4 (4412) system chip. A quad core 1.6 GHz CPU is on board, as is a quad core ARM Mali 400 MP4 GPU. 2.0 GB of RAM system memory has been installed, as has 16 GB of data storage. A microSD slot is on board for storage expansion, and the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder provides video capture at 1,080P HD resolution. The handset also provides a front facing chat cam, and comes equipped with a Stereo FM radio with RDS. Facebook, YouTube, Picasa and Twitter applications have been pre-installed.
The Verizon Galaxy Note II is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $149.99.
