Back in the day, when you wanted a niche device in US shores that comes with a big-ass display with the impressive resume to match it, your only option is to go to AT&T and get its version of the Samsung Galaxy Note, the phablet from the Korean smartphone and tablet manufacturer that nearly did not make it to our side of the world. However, with reports that Verizon is about to release its very won phablet courtesy of LG in the form of the LG Intuition, the venerable Samsung phablet could finally have some competition in the market.

Just last week, there were reports that the LG Intuition will come with an on-contract price of $199.99 but if you want to get it at its off-contract price point, you should prepare yourself in shelling out a hefty $549.99 for that matter. This information comes from a leaked document that our sources managed to grab. The document did not specify as to when we can expect the LG phablet to make its debut in the shelves of the wireless provider but just recently, new information came out that could give us a hint regarding the launch date of the LG Intuition in our side of the world.

The information comes from press mug shots of the Verizon LG Intuition that surfaced recently and although this is not set in stone yet, a launch date of September 15 is in the offing for the LG phablet based on the date on its weather widget. No confirmation has been released by Verizon as of yet regarding this matter but you might want to mark that date on your calendar because LG has announced in the past that the LG Optimus Vu, the original version of the LG Intuition, will launch globally this September.

Though it will compete directly with the older Samsung Galaxy Note, the LG Intuition could face even stiffer competition once Samsung releases the Samsung Galaxy Note II, the successor of its original phablet, in just a couple of days at IFA 2012. Once that happens, it will rather be interesting to see how the Verizon LG Intuition will fare once the Galaxy Note II is released in US shores as well.

As for the LG Intuition, the phablet is expected to be launched by Verizon with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich for its operating system. No news yet as to what chipset it will pack but it will definitely eschew the Tegra 3 SoC found in the original Optimus Vu because this does not have native support for the LTE network of Verizon. Its system memory though has been confirmed at 1GB of RAM while its storage space is at 32GB with no option to have it expanded. It also has a massive 5-inch HD-IPS panel with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and will have a dual-shooter configuration consisting of a rear-facing 8MP autofocus shooter and a front-facing 1.3MP snapper.

  1. What an absolute piece of garbage. The LG phone is a polished turd compared to the Galaxy Note 2. Verizon must think their customers are morons to buy this half baked POS.
